Estate & Grounds

Each corner of the park offers a unique experience, from the beautiful historic house, walking trails through the woods, mud-larking in the river, spirited escapades on the lake or admiring the manicured formal lawns.

THE house

Parham House has stood on the site for over 400 years, showcasing a rich history and intricate architectural merit is the focal point of the estate.

Originally designed to create a perfect microclimate for growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers, the garden continues to flourish today, protected from the elements by its Grade II listed traditional stone walls.

THE WOODS

Step into a page from Enid Blyton’s enchanted wood, where the trees of Parham exude a magical charm. Each visit invites you on an adventure waiting to unfold.

THE DEER PARK

Enter Parnham through the main gate and through the deer park, home to majestic herds of mythical white and fallow deer.

THE LAKE

Fed by a natural spring, the lake serves as the stunning centrepiece of the grounds. Take a leisurely stroll around the lakes edge to enjoy birdwatching or take out a boat and tour the island.

THE FORMAL GARDENS

Inigo Jones, celebrated for introducing classical architecture to England, was known for his mastery of symmetry and proportion. The classical elements and elegant symmetry seen at Parnham Park reflect the architectural trends that Jones pioneered. Today, the connection to Jones adds to the historical intrigue of the estate, making Parnham House not only a significant architectural landmark but also a window into the stylistic evolution of English country houses.

THE ORCHARD

Our orchard is Nestled in the heart of Parnham alongside the bubbling river Brit, our sun kissed apples and pears sway in the breeze of our ancient Orchard.

THE WATERFALL

The River Britt flows through the estate, bringing with it an abundance of wildlife. Enjoy the kingfishers dancing across the water, spot otter trails along the banks, and take a refreshing dip in the waterfall’s plunge pool.

PARNHAM HISTORY

There has been a house on the site of Parnham Park since the 1400’s, it is one of the oldest and most important stately homes in Dorset. Situated just 6 miles from the Jurassic Coast and on the edge of the picturesque market town of Beaminster.
